Sin embargo, aumenta el nivel de prestaciones que les corresponde a las madres hasta un m\u00e1ximo del 66 por ciento, frente al 54 por ciento anterior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La nueva ley cubre a los padres y madres de ni\u00f1os nacidos por gestaci\u00f3n subrogada y ofrece 10 semanas de licencia de adopci\u00f3n para los padres adoptivos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La licencia parental para los padres les brinda una valiosa oportunidad de realizar tareas de cuidado no remuneradas y de establecer v\u00ednculos con sus hijos. Cuando los hombres se involucran m\u00e1s en el trabajo de cuidado de los ni\u00f1os, estos se benefician al recibir m\u00e1s atenci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sonke, coordinador de MenCare, se complace de que el constante trabajo de promoci\u00f3n realizado por diversos grupos y personas de la sociedad civil como COSATU y el Sr. Hendri Terreblanche haya dado como resultado esta legislaci\u00f3n progresista.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nos complace especialmente que el texto se aplique ahora a todos los padres de todas las orientaciones sexuales e identidades de g\u00e9nero, ya que no se refiere a madres o padres, sino a &quot;padres&quot;. Las parejas del mismo sexo con hijos ahora tienen derecho a licencia por paternidad o adopci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Si bien Sonke acoge con satisfacci\u00f3n esta nueva ley, apenas 10 d\u00edas de licencia paternidad no ofrecen a los padres la oportunidad de involucrarse tan profundamente en el trabajo de cuidado de sus hijos como a las madres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El 2018 <\/span><em><a href=\"https:\/\/genderjustice.org.za\/publication\/state-of-south-africas-fathers-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estado de los padres de Sud\u00e1frica<\/span><\/a><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Un informe publicado por Sonke Gender Justice y el Consejo de Investigaci\u00f3n en Ciencias Humanas destaca la importancia del apoyo pol\u00edtico a la participaci\u00f3n de los padres en la vida de los ni\u00f1os peque\u00f1os, especialmente durante los primeros mil d\u00edas (dos a\u00f1os).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta participaci\u00f3n puede establecer un v\u00ednculo emocional entre padre e hijo para toda la vida.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La evidencia de investigaciones de pa\u00edses que ofrecen licencia por paternidad respalda la idea intuitiva de que una conexi\u00f3n emocional durante la infancia llevar\u00eda a una participaci\u00f3n a largo plazo en el cuidado y que los padres asumir\u00edan entonces una mayor responsabilidad por el desarrollo de sus hijos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La licencia por paternidad es vital para fortalecer los v\u00ednculos afectivos. Aunque diez d\u00edas pueden no ser suficientes, Sonke insta a todos los beneficiarios de esta ley a que aprovechen este tiempo para fortalecer los v\u00ednculos afectivos con sus hijos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sonke Gender Justice y la campa\u00f1a MenCare Global Fatherhood han establecido el ambicioso objetivo de que los hombres se encarguen del 50 por ciento del trabajo de cuidados a nivel mundial.
