Foi um per\u00edodo muito dif\u00edcil para minha esposa e eu depois que tivemos nosso primeiro filho. Ela teve um parto ces\u00e1reo e, portanto, n\u00e3o foi f\u00e1cil para ela cuidar do beb\u00ea, amamentar ou fazer outras tarefas em casa, como cozinhar.<\/p>\n

Tornar-se pai foi um momento muito alegre para n\u00f3s dois. Quando eu era mais novo, eu n\u00e3o conseguia acreditar que um dia eu seria pai. Embora seja uma experi\u00eancia alegre, n\u00e3o \u00e9 uma responsabilidade f\u00e1cil para as m\u00e3es, j\u00e1 que as mulheres geralmente t\u00eam muitas tarefas para fazer depois que o beb\u00ea nasce. Durante o tempo em que minha esposa estava amamentando, eu pude ver que tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o era f\u00e1cil para ela devido \u00e0 sua recupera\u00e7\u00e3o da ces\u00e1rea. Foi preciso muito esfor\u00e7o de n\u00f3s para cuidar do rec\u00e9m-nascido; esse trabalho de cuidado facilmente preencheria 24 horas inteiras. Minha esposa precisava do meu apoio pr\u00e1tico, moral e psicol\u00f3gico di\u00e1rio.<\/p>\n

Embora tamb\u00e9m tenha sido alegre para mim, tudo era novo. Eu n\u00e3o sabia o que fazer quando o beb\u00ea estava chorando, ou se ela estava com fome ou doente. Ao mesmo tempo, minha esposa ainda estava em recupera\u00e7\u00e3o, e nosso filho chegou em junho, quando \u00e9 muito frio na \u00c1frica do Sul.<\/p>\n

Fiquei grato \u00e0 minha organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Sonke Gender Justice por nos fornecer licen\u00e7a parental remunerada de quatro semanas para os pais. Isso me permitiu ficar em casa com minha esposa e meu filho para cuidar e dar suporte \u00e0 minha fam\u00edlia. Foi especial dividir a responsabilidade com minha esposa. Ela amamentou o beb\u00ea, e eu fiz o trabalho dom\u00e9stico, como cozinhar, lavar lou\u00e7a e roupas, e cuidar dos nossos planos. Tornou-se minha responsabilidade fazer tudo o que era necess\u00e1rio em casa.<\/p>\n

Nosso beb\u00ea frequentemente chorava no meio da noite. Isso deixava minha esposa desconfort\u00e1vel, pois ela tinha que acordar e amament\u00e1-la. Eu apoiava minha esposa pegando nossa filha para acalm\u00e1-la e consol\u00e1-la, verificando ou trocando sua fralda e colocando-a para dormir novamente. Eu tamb\u00e9m a alimentava com leite extra\u00eddo enquanto sua m\u00e3e dormia.<\/p>\n
