On December 20, 2014, Russia held the 2014 Father of Year Awards. Hundreds of fathers from 25 regions competed, and 11 received awards. The public voted for the nominees online, and a jury approved the final winners. The award brought attention to the importance of responsible and involved fatherhood and to the promotion of positive father figures across Russia.
