In Sri Lanka, a fathers’ group graduate tells his story

Ravichandran, a father in Sri Lanka, holds one of his children in his arms. His wife stands next to him holding their second child. In the background, a banner reads "MenCare Family Retreat Program."

Ravichandran, a 27-year-old father of two children, is a laborer on a tea plantation in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. His wife Darshani is also a laborer on the tea plantation. Ravichandran is a MenCare group member who has actively participated in fathers’ group classes conducted by MenCare partner World Vision Sri Lanka. Recently, Ravichandran and his family participated in a MenCare family retreat – a two-day residential program held in June.

Ravichandran explains the positive changes he has experienced at home after participating in the MenCare program: “I used to consume alcohol daily; I didn’t stay at home after work. But, after participating in the MenCare classes, I reduced my consumption of alcohol. Now I do not go anywhere after work; I spend my evening time with my children and help my wife.”
